Designing a new kitchen, bath, office, wet bar, entertainment center, and more can be exciting and overwhelming. However, the Friel design consultation process is so much fun, and those overwhelming feelings seem to melt away.
Some common concerns we hear are:
- “Do they use high-pressure sales tactics?”
- “Will they get upset if I ask too many questions?”
- “How many times can I do a consultation?”
All your concerns are valid, but rest assured, we understand that this is an investment into your home. Which also means the desire to get it right the first time. So we take the time to listen to your wants and needs within the room you want to create. Our goal is to transform your ideas into reality. Friel’s designers are here for you.
How It Begins: Consultation
The first step is to come on by! You can book an appointment online, call us or stop by one of the design centers. If you book an appointment, we will contact you and confirm the details of when you’re coming in. If you call, we are more than happy to answer any questions and book an appointment for your convenience. However, we also welcome drop-ins to our showrooms as well.
You can turn up with a mountain of ideas or without the faintest clue. We will answer your questions and can discuss your options. Within the showrooms, we can walk through the various visual designs and assess your options. We also love to review the images you may have from magazines, pictures, or other sources that inspire you.
There are no time limits on your consultation, there are no limits on how many appointments you book, and there is never any obligation or high-pressure sales tactics used at any stage. You can ask as many questions as you need, and our designers will ask many questions to understand how you use your room and what you want it to look like.
We want you to enjoy exploring the possibilities before finalizing your decisions.
Moving Forward With Next Steps
When you’re ready to move forward with your room design, the next step is for your designer to visit your home to complete the room survey. Seeing your home allows us to get precise measurements of the design area to use during the design stage.
After we have your measurements, we create a 3D design and drawings to show you exactly how the room will look in your home before any work is completed. We take into consideration how and which appliances will fit in the room, where appliances need to be placed to make the room functional and aesthetically pleasing, what kind of lighting would work in the space, what type of hardware you want to use, cabinet designs, where the studs are in the walls, and any other details big or small.
Like the consultation phase, we present you with the design and continue to work with you through the updates and amendments you wish to make. Friel designers also will give you time frames for when materials will arrive, which sometimes can change your mind on design elements based on your schedule for completing the room project.
Working With Contractors
The planning and design stage is also completely free of obligation – and you only pay when we begin ordering the materials for installation. This is when we start to work with contractors, with which we have many partners in the business. We can put you in contact, or you may have the vetted contractor you want us to work with.
Friel designers work with the contractors till the end of the project. We are involved with the contractor to understand timelines and milestones, ensuring materials are delivered on time and exactly when the contractor needs them for installation.
We go to the job sites and make sure that the design and realization of the vision match, and we are available to answer any questions and listen to any comments from you or the contractor. Friel designers are there till project completion.
